Brown Shingle built in 1904 by Architect: Edward Holmes Cost: $14,000

This is a fine example of a Brown Shingle two-story residence. Of special interest is the 3D pattern in the shingle design around the windows. Look past the entry path at the tall tower behind the house, it would have held the original water tank that served the surrounding houses at the turn of the 20th century. This is one of the few surviving water towers in Alameda.
