This is one of the seven houses commissioned in 1897 by Samuel McHenry. The lot was partitioned off from the backyards of the four adjacent McHenry houses on Sherman Street. In its eccentric massing and detailing, the house resembles the 1897 McHenry row on Sherman, rather than the more sedate 1895 row across the street.
The design combines a Queen Anne form with Colonial Revival elements. The looming gambrel-roofed portico has a sideways gable and a quaint dormer with flared roof. The house appears unaltered except for the garage beneath the porch which was recently restored.
