Leonardville and Beyond Walking Tour
928, 922, 916, 912 Lafayette Street
Queen Anne Row - Built in 1890-91 by Joseph A. Leonard
This row was built early in Joseph Leonard's period, in between 1890 and 1891. Notice the different materials Leonard used in the facades, and how the stucco and the shingles play on each other, he really wanted the textures to make a statement. 922 Lafayette received a 2021 Preservation Award for the restoration work the homeowners undertook inside and out. Notice especially the restored the shingles and the stucco on the gable, and how the gold paint highlights what looks like a sunburst, highly stylized and unique.
